Thanks! I found a magic rotation number for dodecahedrons: 31.7.
Accurate enough for stuff like this.

Why wouldn't it work with Wings models? I usually have to "find and
replace" all the texture instances in my imported mesh objects. A second
option is to edit the texture file itself. I use PoseRay.

That design is fantastic! It would make the perfect wedding ring for my
girlfriend. It resembles vines and berries, both of which carry
signifigance for her.

That bracelet is even better yet. It looks more golden that the ring for
some reason.

I couldn't possibly know exactly what you are going through, but I've
been through some nasty sh!t myself. You can always e-mail me if you
need someone to talk to. We could even chat on ICQ, meebo, or whatever.

Speaking of chats, somebody should start a new POV chat. That would be
really cool.

That's how my uncle found a pennyweight's worth of gold one summer. In
front of large rocks, with a turkey baster to vaccum the sediments. (he
later melted it all down into an ingot, left it to cool on a concrete
floor and then stepped on it, burning a nasty circle into his foot)

The creek I pan in is right in town. It would be a disturbace of the
peace to use a pump or dredge right there in town. A turkey baster is
inexpensive and quiet. :)

Funny, I had a dream about gold last night. It was off-yellow...
practially white. It formed wire bundles. Pretty neat.

I'll have to get myself some jewelry-making materials here pretty soon.
A friend of mine sent a large amount of gems my way recently.
Touramline, topaz, kunzite (sp?), *beatiful*, clear labradorite, amber,
cut gems with minor flaws (citrine, amethyst, something resembling
zoistite), and more. All in return for some website work. Soooo, if you
want to trade materials.... give me a write.

Again, nice jewelry work!

Sam

Another great design! It's just asking for a ruby, though :)

floating or intersection with the model. The reflection of the chain on the
model shows that the chain stops at the edge of the picture (top right as
you look at it), so a little tweak there and it's perfect.

     LOL!

With great difficulty... ;) Actually, the pendant was ok, but with the
chain, I combined four links as one model and then duplicated and rotated
each model against the bust - even doing that was hard though.

Heh, you have better eyesight than me Stephen! :o) Thanks for pointing
it out, I didn't notice it.

Really? Cool, I don't think anyone has used something of mine as a
desktop.

I've had a look through all of the images in this thread. Very nice
design. I remember shopping for Carrie Ann's wedding ring - took forever
to find something. Many jwelry makers, and POV-ers, seem too comfortable
creating only what is easiest to manufacture.

Thank you! Do you mean the actual 3D models themselves, or the actual
'designs' of the jewellery? If the former, they were made with Wings3D, and
the latter, well, I actually designed the earrings about 3 years ago now,
(maybe a bit less). So the earring pattern was used in the other designs
apart from the cross and ring, and basically, it's just two earrings
modelled in complete reversal - which is nice, because the design ends up
with a nice celtic knot in the middle. :o)

Actually, what I meant was the "human" models - the ones wearing the
jewelery. :-) I really like whatever "texture" you used for the skin.

LOL! Ok, How was that for a bit of self-egotism? ;o) Grasshopper,
your path lies in the form of a program called Poser5 (Judy) and the texture
is a very simple:

      pigment{ colour Black}
      finish{ reflection .035 phong 1}

Thank you. I just love it when my boss says "design something" and I
immediately think of POV-Ray and Wings... ;)

I usually go by: If I can draw (or render) a design, I can make it.
(Well, hopefully, I never know until I actually start with a lump of silver
or a coil of silver wire).
