I just love it! A degree of perfection that I am quite unable to emulate
:-)

Alternate version with grass + more dead leaves. I definitely prefer the
spider plants but I think I'll try combining both versions

I have to, uh, fifth that?

I also prefer any form of this image to the junk I'm working on myself. :-P

You know you've been raytracing too long when you look up at the sky and
think "Hey, nice smooth color gradient, that must be 32-bit color at least."

I know I mentioned it earlier however having looked at both images I would
have to agree that the spider plants looked better.

It's based on a granite pattern, with a high poly_wave value to make the
veins thinner. Here's the code for the white marble (black's basically the
inverse of this):

pigment {
 pigment_pattern { granite colour_map { [0 rgb 1][1 rgb 0] } }
 poly_wave 8
 scale <1,2,2> rotate -60*y
 colour_map { [0 rgb .5][1 rgb 0] }
}

Cool thanks for the feedback!

Personally I wasn't sure until I'd rendered the new version at the same high
quality (which took nearly 24 hours!). The problem is the grass blades are
so small it just becomes a green blur. So I'm gonna develop the spider
plants version to make it a little more interesting.
