Yes, I think I used too much gamma correction on the image_map, and
that makes the reddish nose more accused.

Lombroso? ... (goggling) ... ah! Uh... yes, could be.

Er... at least here is Spain, it's not so rare to find
neardenthal-looking homosapiens... :)

Yes... I used too much gamma correction on the skin photo.

Does anybody else think he looks a little like Christopher Ecclestone (the
9th Doctor Who)? Uglified, of course...
:)

Now that you mention it.... could be family!

Impressive. The problem with the nose is just the one unsmoothed ridge
which I would guess can be fixed with a little more effort. The truly
difficult thing, the mouth, is outstanding, very sensitively modelled.
The eye sockets another tough area are also good, a bit stylized and
severe, but not out of bounds. Main problem is the eyeballs and I just
don't know what to say there exactly. Keep in mind, I guess, that a
classical painter learning academic studio methods would have been
taught to leave the white of the cornea the same color as the flesh.

Well, after all, I modeled the face without a concrete reference, so
I suppose the stereotypes on my mind obtained the resulting face. And as
my face is the one I see everyday at the mirror, it must have been the
most strong influence.

Yes, but it was also too wide. I corrected both things and some other
details with SharpConstruct (sharp3d.sourceforge.net), a nice tool for
mesh-sculpting. I find it too difficult to model an entire head with it,
but as it imports .obj files, it's useful to retouch objects done with
other apps, like Wings3D in this case.

:) I'm sorry, but that's only a lucky effect of the photographic
image_map: the mouth geometry is really ugly. What's really incredible
is how a photo mapped carefully can change the look of the real geometry.

That's a very good advice: they where pure white! Thanks...

Still no SSS, but I've done a test with HDRI (kitchen_probe) and
corrected some details:

The texture is fantastic. I am a little worried for his health, however: I
believe his right eyeball is sinking down and out of its socket.
