Hi Marc,

the very first of these previews was done with the full version of POV-Ray:
v 3.6, but all other previews (02 - 07) were done with the bbeta version of
the new POV-Ray, version 3.7.0 Beta 12a.

There are none of these "spot lights" remaining when using the beta version.
On the other hand, they say that radiosity and other features are not yet
fully completed which might be the only reason why the spot lights have
disappeared.

Greetings,

Sven

Hi Sven

I'm viewing this newsgroup with a web browser (i tried FireFox and IE6). i
see all the images on this page. The one of Larry above as well. Usually i
see:

  Attachments:
  Download '<filename>.jpg' (<size> KB)

  Preview of image '<filename>.jpg'
  [image]

In your case i just see:

  Attachments:
  Download 'iso-8859-1' (1 KB)

(one has 4KB but that's it)

When i download this files they contain html code for example:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html;
charset=iso-8859-1">
<META content="MSHTML 6.00.2900.2873" name=GENERATOR>
<STYLE></STYLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY bgColor=#ede2cd background="">
<DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#000000 size=2>Here: Rear view of the
middle front
section of the imperial carrier SENECA containing the panoramic quarters
and a
large sensor bay. There are still many details to come, such as small
surface
structures, antennas and others.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><IMG alt="" hspace=0
src="cid:054a01c66b18$9c083ad0$16b2a8c0@SVEN"
align=baseline border=0></DIV></BODY></HTML>

The src links in the image tags (if they are links at all) don't work.

Has anyone ever experienced similar problems? I have no idea what goes wrong
here.

Regards Roman

Hello Roman,

That is a problem I am not familiar with, I am very sorry. I see all the
contents by using my e-mail program (Outlook Express) which i simply
configured to be signed up for the POV-Ray newsgroups.

The problem is that there is a difference between embedding and
attaching an image. You are embedding them, which makes them an
integral part of your HTML messages. You should attach them instead,
because apparently some software has problems with embedded images.
Outlook Express does allow using either method.

I don't remember the details because I switched from OE to Thunderbird
some time ago. Besides, right at the moment I'm using Linux so can't
check it out -- but the option is there.

It would probably cause fewer problems if you would switch to straight
text instead of HTML. It seems that HTML is rarely used in newsgroups
-- at least in the ones I'm familiar with. That choice can be selected
in OE as well.

One other minor quibble... All your images have been posted with the
same name "SpaceCarrier", so if anyone saves your images (as I do) they
all have to be renamed to do so. :-) (Use SpaceCarrier-1,
SpaceCarrier-2, ..., etc.)

Larry,

thanks for your answer. I am going to change beginning from the upcoming
"Preview 09" the format from HTML to Text.

Greetings,

Sven

Just for info. I use Agent 3 and have no problems seeing these
images.

I'm having the same problem, using Netscape Communicator as my browser. But
I think Larry Hudson's suggestion to Sven will solve it.

Looking forward to seeing the images, Sven!

Cool Earth-like desert moon, that 68 Cyg XIV-7! Did you make it also
with PoV-Ray?

And, yes, I really would like to know how long (in kilometers) the
SENECA carrier is altogether...

See you in Khyberspace!
