Now, this is the first version of which I feel satisfied enough to show.

The scene is a variation of the windows_room of Tim Nikias, of course, and I
kept his theme (prepared for company). But the setting is totally different,
although perhaps not entirely realistic, but I don't care at this stage.

Still to do:
- add a water surface to make reflections on the ceiling
- a canoe and/or part of a wooden platform outside the window
- a stove in the corner
- brighten up the background image (came standard with my PC; I was just
experimenting and this appealed to me)


So... what do you think?

Forgot to tell:

- the floor is a height_field with wood chips
- I used (and extended) the SlopeTex macro by Tim McMurdo for texturing the
crates.
- Crates are CSG, made in Moray
- the stoneware are mesh2's made in Moray (lathe objects), exported to Silo
via PoseRay, and further worked on and subdivided before exporting to POV.

I like it! The textures need some work (like some normals) to look
realistic, but its a great and promising start. Maybe you want to try and
somehow add some frost to the edges of the windows. This might be a little
more complicated on the rectangular ones, but for the spherical one you
could just use a spherical color_map. Some irregular, less transparent white
should do the trick.

And I don't get where you want to add the water. In front of the window, to
reflect in onto the ceiling? If you do that, try limiting the surface to a
small region as possible in order not to shoot photons all over the place
where you won't see them. If this means that the water is visibile through
the window, maybe using a two-pass method (gather photons with water, but
render the final with photons but without the water) would be a good
approach.

Thank you Tim!! Indeed, there is still a lot to tweak/change, especially the
textures (not always my strongest point). Still not happy with the walls and
ceiling. I have been putting my thoughts to the glass, because something
should be done there. Still not sure what I want, but I'll come up with
something. I was thinking about adding some cracks in the glass too...

The water plane I think about should be invisible because there is already
the water from the background image. So, it just serves for reflections on
the ceiling. I shall have to experiment a bit. The two-pass method will be
best here I think. Thanks for your warning about the size of the water
plane. That might be essential.

First I was sure you had modelled some marvellous ice (looks
more than a little like some sss materials I've seen here),
and I was both surprised and disappointed to learn otherwise.  But the image
is nonetheless a great spin on the original.

Thank you! The whole point however, is that - like in Tim's original
version - the background is an image. Of course, it could be modelled one
way or another, but the focus of the scene is the room. The background olny
serves as the context in which the room is placed. The interesting thing is
to experiment with several, totally different images, and you discover each
time that you could build a totally different room.

Meh. This is almost like GT's "Women of Power" series... (Or it will be
