This image popped into my head one day while during one of my moodswings.

It's modelled entirely in Silo, the subdivision surface modeller I recently
purchased. Several reasons to do so:
1. Gather modelling experience for an upcoming course at the university
2. Achieve more natural shapes for the human
3. Odd angles on the room, table and chair
4. Soft forms on the landscape-model

The lighting, though it might seem like radiosity, is actually a bunch of
arealights to simulate radiosity. Even using high count values and real
detailed settings, I got artifacts which I couldn't smooth away with a
second pass using higher error_bound, so I resorted to arealights. I also
had some more flexibility doing this, throw in some lightgroups and you can
get all the highlighting you want (notably on the human's silhouette and,
though less noticeable, on the landscape to properly light the subsurface
scattering/media effect).

The image might appear a little dark on some monitors, but it is intended
that way. Interpret freely. :-)

I like this! Reminds me of the 1920's silent german film, Dr Mabuse if I
remember the title correctly.
I like Silo too. I cannot explain really why, but I prefer it to Wings3D.

Don't know that one. Might have to ask some friends if it's a good one. Is
it?

It didn't appeal to me that Wings3D, at the time I tested it, had no
functional support for POV-Ray. Also, the idea that Nevercenter will support
and update the application, along with the attention they pay to
user-feedback, was very comforting.

Yes, it is an interesting example of the german expressionist films of the
time. The story is partly situated in a madhouse and the mental world of a
(criminal) inmate is shown by a warped, strange world, where there are no
right angles and no flat surfaces. I think it was very ahead of its epoch. I
shall look up the exact title and author of the film. I thought perhaps
Murnau, from memory, but I am probably wrong.

Yes indeed.

Got it wrong. What I was talking about is: "das Kabinett des Doktor
Caligari" by Robert Wiene, from 1919.
