You are right, but this was intended.
In fact, a forest is much darker at this lighting
(look at http://photography.cicada.com/gallery/brain/graphics/talltrees.jpg
for a real forest).

My only excuse - Povray forced me to make compromises...

Thank you, but this is way to much honor for me.

Funny, but it's similar for me.
Sometimes when I'm getting philosophical, I'm imagining some hard-wired
instinct related memories as a relict from former times, maybe in the old
brain stem.
But since I'm not a biologist....

Thank you for your kind comment.

When I see a nice picture at the net, I save it immediately. When it is
attractive enough, I search via Google similar images. After that, I have
hundreds of images on certain topics in a specific folder. Afterwards I
chose the three to ten nicest ones from them and copy them to a folder for
their own. The next step is to decide, which image can be created with my
skill levels, test files etc.
This stage gate process needs much time, but at least I've a clear target
then.

Perhaps this is the cause for the impression of realism you see.

In boreal forests it can become quiet cold and lonely at some times; At
least in my impression since I was never in such regions.

I don't count the hours and whwn work at Boreal began, I owned three
computers. Normally all or at least two of them are rendering all the time
(the motherboard of the third one died after 3 years of continous poving).
In November I spent one week, in April two weeks and the same amount in
July/August. I'm really slow....

I can understand your point.
Perhaps it's a personal thing, but I like the ultra_wide_angle camera.
I think it's more natural than the usual Povray camera.

By the way, where were you whn you saw such a point?
