While I agree with others that it looks very good, I'd also say that there
is too much contrast in the milk itself. In my experience, even with such
an extreme lighting condition, milk doesn't get that bright *or* that dark.
Of course, this might be a deficiency in the lighting and not the milk
itself. I've run into the same problem, which is why I went with soda pop
instead of milk for my test renders :)
Good job otherwise, and I can't wait for the next version!

Good.
I think it needs a higher definition area light and perhaps another light
source to give it that "real" edge.

it does. But, with media it seems like area lights slow rendering down
quite a log. I tried Jitter as others have suggested, and wasn't pleased
with the results.
I'm running another render, this time with some more scenery, I've
adjusted the lighting slightly. One significant change was doubling the
dimensions of the area light 4x4 samples, now.
And it's taking it's sweet time to render.

Believe it or not, there are two light sources, The second is quite
toned down from the first. Media and lighting seem to sometimes be a
very careful balancing act.
This is really one of the first times I have had the opportunity to play
with the media a bit more and actually get good results.

Yep. However the result are worth it with PovRay. I did a very simple
scene, a pen on a counter top. final rendering 30x30 light + two other
no_shadow point lights as fillers. Sweeeeeeeet, left it running overnight
.... and half the next day.

Actually, this was my inspiration. To me, the milk in those images seems
to have a bit of a yellow cast that I don't like. But -- that may be
closer to realism.

Hehe, I don't drink milk, and my fiancee only drinks skim. I must have
forgotten what whole milk looked like. ;)

much fun to render. hmmm. I guess tea *is* amber colored.

Good enough for government work.

I'd say so. You gotta do something about that glass, though, I'm getting
visions of someone slicing their lips off. ^^;
