In addition to the other accolades, I'll say I'll bet no "masters" in
traditional media would be able to do the water as well as you have...

You are right. The cathedral is a bit bright and white
if you compare it to the original painting:

I thought that we have too many image maps already and
decided to use procedural textures instead of UV mapping.
I've created very simplified versions of your wood
textures which I used as a reference :)

Congratulation for this great picture.

Is there any chance to have a "Making of Capriccio" website in the
future. It would be a great resource for people who want similar projects...

So long,

I was a bit worried, that you had given up on the project, and it was
stranded like the other colaborative projects, I have participated in,
but I see that you have been quietly working away on the finishing details.
The result is great - Hall of Fame, make room for a new entry :-)

Wonder how long it took Marlow to do the original.

I believe the first advise should be: If you are going to start a
colaborative project on the internet, be prepared to do most of the work
yourself.

This is the third project I have participated in, and the first that
have produced a result. I think that the main reasons that this project
succeeded was:
- the goal of the project was clearly defined from the start. There was
no discussions of what the scene should look like, or what objects
needed to be modelled.
- Gena was willing and able to model all the stuff that nobody else
volunteered to do.

This is a good idea. We could place there all discussions involved into
creation process, all intermediate images and full size image maps. I
hope that those postings in this newsgroup are still available.
Unfortunately right now I don't have enough time and other resources
(space for such homepage). Maybe in the future...

Gena.

I'm looking forward to this.

AFAIK the postings don't expire in this newsgroup.
