Thanks for the settings, Gilles.
I wondered about your peak memory, but now it seems clear.

It was a kind of 'not thinking, but doing' approach.
So I do't know the next steps, but I have to reduce the memory load of the
scene first.

last used Povray - I'm trying to learn more about the Renderman interface
and polygon-based modelling. But Gilles' images (and yours) make me want to
go back and start poving around. :-)

I'd really like to take a look on the source, but feel free to not post it
if you feel uncomfortable in any way. After all, it's your work; I'm happy
enough just to see it and to imagine what it will turn into when ready.

Best regards.

Roberto

There are "only" 15 CSG pipes (probably similar to the ones you used) and
most of the other structural elements are rather low-res meshes repeated
over and over, so that helped a bit with the memory use, even thought the
tree and Poser people are quite big. Keeping the RAM in check was a real
challenge in this one, it's fortunate that reusing rad data from smaller
images works so well.

There is no reason to feel uncomfortable.
I sent dozens of complete source files of my IRTC entries to everybody, who
wanted them.
In turn I emailed to several people for their source files, if I wanted to
rerender it or simply to learn from it.

All of us stand on the shoulders of other POVers (and most of us on Gilles).

You find the source on povray.binaries.scene-files.

I don't.

:-)

Nah, just kidding. I tend to use his technique for smoothening
radiosity, but otherwise I do most of my stuff by myself. Still,
his images are good for inspiration and I like that he's talkative... :-)
