There are lots of rocks scattered about. The field is grazed by sheep, who avoid
eating
flowers, and don't like getting too close to fence posts.

Thanks. Yes, the fence is not ideal.... I used trace to place spheres along a spline..
took
the easy way, rather than having straight sections of wire.

Excellent image - I would add a few tiny birds on the upper left just to
balance the tree, and perhaps a cow

Oh, now I see it. I have to reclaim my new glasses and I take back the
nitpicking. :-)

So long,

Yes...

I love outdoor scenes, and this one certainly pulls the viewer into the
image. Very artful, IMHO.

The best thing about this is that it's not photorealistic, but is "very
real" in that there is beauty and a consistent but alternative reality.

Gasp! Some of the cooler Shockwave games do this, and I've been toying with
this idea. My previous approach would have been to try to get a perfect
isosurface out there....

The scene was set up with everything in place... background mountains which are
actually a HF
pattern, and sky which is stacked planes, but the problem was that as soon as I
inserted the
tree, the whole thing ground to a halt. I worked out it was some issue with
double_illuminate.
When I turned off double_illuminate on the sky planes, the whole thing sped up again.
So... I
decided to just render the sky and mountains, inc ground fog, then 'reload' that image
onto a
polygon suitably scaled and positioned.

Thanks. Nothing evil lurks just off screen... honest ;-)

Yes, I thought about it, and will probably do so as soon as I locate suitable models.
Oh, and
I'm not sure about adding that cow to the upper left ;-)

Anyway... hasn't Gilles cornered the 'cows in POV-Ray' market? ;-)

Thanks,
My first 'real' (ish) picture, and I'm very pleased with it.
