I've been working on this on and off for a few months.

Figure, clothing and wings from poser, cross and candlesticks
modelled in rhino.

Comments?

First off, I think it's quite impressive.

However, since you asked for comments...

The stained glass "projections" are nifty, but probably not realistic. Even
if the stained glass was perfectly smooth, you still wouldn't get
"projections" like that. By projections, I mean something like a projector
onto a movie screen. An area-light would help, as would a normal on the
stained glass surfaces.

Hope that helps!

Ok:
The first image IMHO is too dark, need an gamme adjustment of
~1.2-1.3 to look correct on my monitor.
The shadows should be softer, also the flames and wicks(?) of the
candles don't cast shadows (with soft shadows this probably
won't be so visible anymore).

In the second image the candles seem to be the
main light source, but the flames themselfes do not look bright
enough for this (add a glowing effect?).

Program ended abnormally on 3/19/03 3:15 PM, Due to a catastrophic Gail

Very good. No nitpicks on the composition.

As with others, I think the projections from the windows are way too crisp.
Secondly, the light from the four candles is too bright compared to the light
coming from outside.

By upping the intensity of the outside light (and using area lights) and by
using fade_distanceon the candles, I think you'll achieve a more realistic image.

a skysphere or equivalent luminous background could help making stained
glass more visible as well

There's already a normal on the window. I'll try some ior
and area_lights. After all it only takes 8 hrs to render at the
moment. <grin>
