Well, they could have just moved in, or iirc placing pics like this, rather than
hanging, was pretty fashionable quite recently (at least it was in UK, dunno
about elsewhere).

No, not my very first 3D image. You can see some of my older images here:

I'm currently working on a real homepage ...

Andreas

Yes indeed, but not my very first rendering.
Some of my previous images:

Actually it's a simple spotlight with an added area_light statement:

=======================================================
//lamp number: 3 spot_light
#declare Lamp_003 = light_source{
                        0*x
                        color rgb<1.0, 1.0, 1.0>*3.0
                        spotlight
                        point_at <0,0,-1>
                        radius  50
                        tightness  0.075
                        falloff  30.7113438
                        fade_distance 55.0
                        fade_power 1
                        area_light <0,1,0>, <0,0,1>, 5, 5
                }
=======================================================

Andreas

Well, it's not my very first scene, of course. But my first POV-Ray image.
I used Blender (and I'm still using it), but its render engine is not very
good, but very fast. The image I posted here took only a view seconds to
render with Blender - great for making animations.

Regarding first images: when I would have to use POV-Rays scene description
language, I would post spheres and cubes, too. But I don't want to use it
to much because you need a lot of experiences to create good looking images
with it. In my opinion it's difficult enough to create images with a good
modeler - it's a pain with POV-Rays language.

BTW: the TGA image has better quality.

Regards,
Andreas

Excuse me :-) My next images will contain lots of chrome spheres and a
black/white chequered plane. Then I'll try the same with green/white
chequered planes. Finaly, with some experiences, I'll make some images with
spheres and cubes.

Regards,
Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Very nice image, I particularly like the washed out
lighting on the objects and the nicely textured and
reflective floor.

Such a fine image for your first, but I see you didn't
scale the cat properly :).

I like the chopped off light (two rods) and distant wall
shadow, though they leave me curious about what they are.

Your images evoke a strong response from the viewer which is independant
of their technical strength

If you don't have children, maybe.
What will do Django with those pics?
