Here comes version 2, now with better blur..
blur_samples 100 confidence 1(okay, very close to) variance 0
Render time with radiosity and the 10x10 area light: 14 hours

But I'm not satisfied yet..

Nah.. Peter's trick only smoothed the blur.
I rendered a small pic with aperture 15 (picture attatched), and as you can
see, the focal point goes all the way along.. So the question to you all
goes: How do I focus only the center of the image, and blur only what's
outside a certain radius?

Attatched images:
p_blur03_small.jpg (3.11 kB) - Aperture 15 - to show my focus problem
p_blur03_more blur_rad.jpg (43.4 kB) - Better blur with radiosity and 10x10
area light (14 hours render)
p_blur03_more blur_no rad.jpg (7,53 kB) - Better blur but no radiosity /
area light (1hour 40 minutes render)

What you probably don't recognise is that the
focal point isn't a "line", as you describe it, but rather
a certain radius around the camera. When taking a
real camera and adjusting the lense, you will see
the exact same effect.

Looks fairly realistic to me, but the render time is killer. What objects do
you ultimately plan to put in the locations of the tube and cylinder?

That explains why it is at it is.. Thanks!
But how can I get the effect I search?

I guess I could tweak the focal blur to decrease the render time quite a
bit, but it'll take a lot of slow test renderings, focal
blur+radiosity+10x10 area light=time :) since I consider the image complete
I don't think I'll care to tweak it anymore..
Other objects? Haven't though about that really..It was originally a focal
blur test only, which I think went rather abstract and a bit cool :)
I think the high focal blur would kill any detailed objects, but maybe some
abstract buildings or something? What do you suggest?

Using pure POV, I have no idea. Ask in the advanced-users
group, the "frequents" might know something (though I frequent
there often, I'm more into modelling and programming with
SDL than anything else).

I suggest post processing. I don't know if MegaPOV's post-process will
do it without trouble, but you can certainly do it with Photoshop or GIMP.

If you must use POV, you could probably render the image without
blurring and then create a new image that does the blurring on an
image_map. Perhaps you could map it onto a paraboloid or cone, then blur
with focal blurring. Or, even better, you could do something with the
"average" pattern.

That's because you missed the other trick ;)

Again, try Francois' Automatic DOF macro on www.wozzeck.net . It works
like a charm and does exactly what you want.
