Yeah. It looked good with lights and highlights.

I will de-correct (sp?) the original map.

Yes. It's just a bit smaller than the glass. Does it look wrong?

This didn't mean to be a good composition. I just put together some of the objects
modelled to see how they looked with these specific light conditions.

Huh, I don't know...

Not much, too bad. Peak memory used: 126 MB. Memory available at the moment: only 128
MB. I will buy some more RAM next week.

Yes and no. You are right that it must be a cloudy day (or a cloud is temporarily
covering the sun). But that does not imply a lack of highlights: the sky is still
much brighter than anything around.

Even though it might be your first AWESOME ROLEX said. It has many times
been quite evident you have #declare AWESOME_ROLEX=On in your scenes ;)

Jonathan,
Incredible pic, you obviously put a lot of effort and care into your
work. I can only hope to get as good as you are! Would you please let me
know what you use for a modeler (if you use one), and any other relevant
details for this pic?

Thanks,
George Pantazopoulos

I normally do not use any modeller. If I have to, I go with Hamapatch.
There's not much to say about this scene:

-the ouzo bottle is simple CSG.
-the wine glass is a lathe object.
-the corkscrew is CSG+blob+isosurface.
-the body of the pepper jar was modelled in Hamapatch. The cap is CSG.

About the lighting: I indeed cheated here... but the trick isn't hidden that much.
You can figure it out yourself... ;-)

The glass looks thicker than it probaly is, this is due too the air
between glass and wine. There are internal refelections in that air gap.
Scaling the wine bigger than the glass removes this phenomena.

Looks excelent, but the wine glass looks asthoug it's got a refletcive
coating on it just like the wine bottel. This reflectiveness looks ok
on the bottel but not so much on the glass.

Source, source, source!

I've got tons of RAM and plenty of time to render! :)

Very nice work, sir.
