This is kind of neat, but maybe not so useful. The greenery looks very
fake but somehow the texture is nice. The problem is, it is an artifact of
an isosurface process and not stable. Still, it bore sharing because for
cheap trees, it could work. Maybe the resulting stuff could be used in
quick architectural renderings for fill greenery? Or video games, maybe.

Cheers!

Hi!

Thanks for posting the source (posted as Re: An interesting iso "texture")
Btw, maybe it's better to post sources in the groups p.b.s-f or p.t.s-f
but anyway I like the patterns and they even render fairly quick! The memory
consumation is almost nothing and I have no idea how you did this. I'll look
at the source though I am no big mathematican. You say they are actually
artifacts, so I guess they're pretty hard to refine and control? Will the
shape be stable in animation?

(are you still working on your leds? ... :o)

Regards
Hugo

Hmm, probably not good in animation, but it would make a nice
experiment. My first thought is that if it is doing what I think
(mathematically), they will show funny illumination changes as it rotates or
is circled by a camera. But it's certainly worth a try.
I have only recently discovered these groups, so sorry if I post
something in the wrong place; I will be more careful and check around first.
The LEDs are pretty much in limbo, having gotten some good looking
shadows. I still see a couple of artifacts there, but I think it is because
I did not specify the ground as a target for the photons. I might have to
re-render that today.

Cheers!
