There's no grinder here. That's just a jar containing pepper grains. The grinder
hasn't been modelled yet... ;-)

My mistake. I buy some plastic containers of pepper with a grinder built
into the top. These look very similar.

Hi Alessandro,
from your names I would have bet you were Italian... are you Brazilian/Portuguese ?
BTW, here are some hints about glass textures:
1) ambient 0 (this rule could apply to most materials).
2) very low diffuse (as low as you can: try 0.05)
3) I quite always use something like rgbf <.95,.95,.95,.98> as pigment. It's not
completely transparent, but gives the glass a more *solid* appearance.
4) specular 1 and low roughness (something like 0.003 should work).
5) variable reflection: reflection {0.1,1 fresnel on}.
6) interior fade_distance and colour.
7) photons often help...

Of course POV 3.5 comes with some nice glass textures, so you don't really have to
reinvent the wheel... ;)

I know. I got them too, and the shape is just the same: the only difference is that
some containers have the built-in grinder, some ones do not. But, you know, I prefer
the old-way wooden grinders... :)

Hi Jonathan,

Tks a lot for your tips. I use 3.5 glass textures, but I want to learn how
the params work.
I never used fade_distance before , I guess that is the problem.
My grandfather is Italian ( better , were Italian ). Im Brazilian and live

Tks again.

the only problem i see is that the label on the one standing up seems to be
a bit, whats the word i'm looking for.....

..

maybe loose. i don't know. it looks a little bit wider than the jar. it
might just be the shadow though, as it's only on the left side that i notice
it.

other than that. great work. it's really really good looking. especially the
peppercorns :)

Yes, you're right sir.

Yeah, it took me months to model those peppercorns. The rest of the scene was pretty
straightforward.

Things like that are what make an image really stand out to me. I like
seeing modeling that I can't fully register in a glance.

maybe just a few over the top of the label then... well done.. that's my
2 cents... they just look hidden... =]
