This is a simple corkscrew modelled for the elsewhere mentioned kitchen scene. The
modelling was a bit more tricky this time, mostly because I wanted smooth transitions
between the surfaces (i.e. I didn't want to get sharp edges). So, a good 5/4 of the
model consists of blobs.
Cheers.

Tire-bouchon is the French word for corkscrew. In Italy we just call it 'cavatappi',

used expression. It sounds a bit funny, but I quite always use it (just because my
mom uses the French term tire-bouchon).

At the moment I have a coffee-percolator, a corkscrew, and nothing else...
Still much work to do! ;)

Again that deja vu...

Terrific! Apart from the superb modelling (I think not many professionals
will come up with such quality), the metal texture is amazing, and the
lighting is simply like RL. As I said, I'm really waiting to see the whole
kitchen completed...

About the name of the thing, I find really interesting the resemblance:
now I understand where the spanish word "tirabuzon" comes from... really
curious!

Er.. of course I meant 4/5...

Thank you very much! I'm using a standard photographic set to show (and model) every
single object. Just a box, one light behind the camera, one light in front of the
camera and another one just over the origin.

Probably I will complete every single object first, then I will put together the
puzzle :)
If I have time, I will then come up with a little 'kitchen objects collection' which
I can put on my website.

'tirabuzon' sounds funny too. Is it used normally? I aks because Altavista suggested
me a 'sacacorchos'...:)

Excellent work m8

Nice bit of DOF but did you also use some kind of blurred reflection? (it
looks slightly blurred in the corkscrew nearest the camera) and if so how
did you achieve this.

Don't wish to sound like an echo, but, can't wait to see the finished
kitchen :)

In France, that particular kind of corkscrew is sometimes
called a "de Gaulle", as a reference to General de Gaulle's
typical attitude with his arms lifted.

LOL. Yeah, I can notice a certain resemblance.
And de Gaulle was called 'corkscrew'?

Nope. I only used simple normals. The real model does show blurred reflections, but I
don't think the scene will be a close up of this corkscrew so I don't think I will
add that extra detail. ;)

I'm having SOOO many exams this month, and I would like to make something for the
IRTC either, so this scene could take a while (I would be happy if I could come up
with 2-3 objects per week though).
