well.. he's the first attempt at texturing my plane.. its rendered in POV
3.0g just because it works easily with Moray.
its just a simple image map made with photoshop.
i'm going to do each piece seperately with much more detail.. decals.. and
some good bump maps..

but i thought i'd show the progress.
any comments would be appriciated

Except for the oversized propeller, that pretty much removes the
"cartoon" look. I would almost want to throw a ramscoop in the front and
call it realistic.

(Well, maybe not "realistic" but whatever word means "not cartoonie but
still not a real thing")

Convincing texture. It looks odd to have a texture like that on such a
cartoonily-shaped plane. Like an expensive trinket (or "objets d'art"
as some call them ;).

The texture is nice - pity it's not procedural, though. If you look where the
wings meet the body, you'll see what I mean.

I love the way a good texture can add so much to a model - looking very good
so far - nice work

might i suggest you try using the image map as a very slight bump map as
well

Progress indeed!

It's certainly less cartoony with this texture, like it contradicts the
overall shape. So I'm just curious to see where you are taking this. Anyway,
it's quite cool, keep it up.

I really like this one! :)

I'm fond of the combination of toony style and realistic textures. Something
that I'm also planning to try out myself when I get time.

My only suggestion is to make the propeller just slightly smaller, so it can
rotate without colliding with the ground when the plane is takes off and
lands.

You might want to go to 3.5 for this.

One word: UV-Mapping

i wish i could use UV mapping but as of now, i'm modeling in Rhino 1.1 and
exporting to Moray in .UDO format. i know this isnt the best way to do it..
and i'm not a "true POVer" if i dont code all my work.. but Moray's GUI sure
makes things alot easier and faster.
hopefully lutz and the moray team will come up with a way to use UV mapping
in the next version of Moray
