Looks like a miniature set. Realisticish, though. :) Needs radiosity and
some media for nice volumetric lighting. :D

Do I remember this as a night scene over a year ago?
It looks stunning, one thing that I would change is that the sale of
the boat is covering the end of the pier so you can't see what's
boing on there, mayeb move the boat closer to the camera so that we can
see the end of that pier. Also the sale on the boat looks too bright
(maybe too much ambient in the texture), compared with the rest of the
scene.
The wooden houses/huts need some work on the windows and doors they all
look solid and all look the same, some should be open maybe some broken or
some different colours or with different coloured blinds behind them etc.

Nope. Entirely new scene as of this month. Components from previous scenes
are being reused.
The only night scene I can think of recently is my Thieve's Maze posted here
awhile back.

Hmmmmm... it's a "good" castle.

They are? I didn't know that... perhaps the yahtyness is due to the white
bottoms... that has been changed. New version coming soon.

But then I wouldn't get to have all this fun. :-)

Nice pic!
well.. since the others have focused on the castle and boats, I'll comment
your houses and docks.
First, I like pillars, look realistic.
But how do you get from the lower docks to the higher ones, and how do the
people in the houses get to their front door, if there's no ladder/stair?
some of the houses are rotated wrong (I think), it would look better if they
were "back-to-back" if you know what I mean.
How about a bigger render so we really can examine the details? :)
I just have to say.. the middle tower of the castle looks amazing!

The castle is amazing, a very well put together image.
The only thing that I can see is the village and the boats, while the
castle looks comparitavly realalistic, the village and the boats look
like models that have been placed in front of the real thing to create a
forced perspective veiw, similar to the special effects technique used
in motion pictures.
My opinion only.
Over all, excelent work.

There is a gray wall in the middle of the castle that is close to the
same color as the rooftop in front of it, so the roof line is lost.
Is there a boat moored at the middle pier? It looks like there is a
sliver of white and a mast there, but I'm not sure if it's a boat or
something lying on the pier.
Some of the doors on the houses look like they open up to a nice drop
into the ocean. It looks like there is a walkway but the size of the
image makes them look really small or not there at all. If they are
there, I'd make them wider. Then again, they might show up clearly when
the scene is rendered at 800 x 600.

This reminds me of Russia, or Iran, one of those places. Try a few
'roofs' with gold. See what it looks like then.
Ace image though, wish I could do that much....
