Bah, I have a render paused in the background with hq focal blur and a
buncha stuff at 5100x3400 (30"x20" poster at 170dpi :) that's been going
at 13pps. 400 lines after nearly two days! Oh, and of course "+c -d"
in the command line... ;)

Are the tips supposed to be metal? For me thet look like plastic, and
the ball looks like being moulded to the rest of the tip.

Is this poster for yourself or is it a job? I have thought of taking some of
my images and rendering them supper big to make a poster for my walls, just
wondering if I'm the only one so vain:-)

Don't know if I'm vain or not (hee hee), although I do have a photo of a
rendering on my wall. Looks pretty bad being an earlier one and with both
CRT monitor and camera lens distortion. Just a 20x30 enlargement. No
incredible render times involved.
I made a different one for my mother, one that she picked out of the photos
I had done of several. She has it hanging on her basement art room wall.
I think the vanity applies since I haven't done anything with someone elses
renderings.

Hehe actually I think my uncle would like to have one, since he is the one
who tells people about my work.

Hmm a vew questions about making posters though.
1. Where did you go to have it done?
2. What size i.e resolution and what image format did you use?

Hope you aren't asking me, since all I did was take the film negatives into
a local film store which sent them to a film lab to do the poster-sized
prints. My renders were of about the 800x600 to 1024x768 range, I believe,
and you could see the pixels in the final print, so its not a good way to go
considering a monitor usually gets only 1600x1200 max. (aside from the
perspective distortions).
Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what is done to get posters from files
too. Even if I think I've heard before.

I would assume just take it Kinko's and say ya want a 30x20 poster, and
pay through your nose for it. Of course, i'd assume it'd be good to
have a png for gamma issues, but that doesn't work with +c. I'm not
sure if color resolution matters.
