As regards those black specks, would it not be ok to 'clone' over them
using PS? Or is that not a 'done' thing? I'm unsure about this sort of
method after Poving an image as I've also had these 'specks' before when
experimenting. Anyone?

Let's see...

You could put some people or a few camels walking across the scene...

You could put some nice, grainy, tanish media to simulate sand blowing
around...

You could put an oasis in the middle (ooo, how lovely :-)...

You could put in a cheesy yellow-orange sun (if it'll work with your
clouds)...

You could put in a surreal-looking mirage...

You could put just about anything in. Have fun with it ;-)

Nice clouds, BTW!

LOL! Like it! I take it that's a 'no' then?

I can live with that... ;)

If you do it properly in the first place you don't get little
black spots.

Black spots are often caused by coincidence surfaces, and can
be rexolved by moving or enlarging one of your objects by a
very small amount.

By the sounds of it there is actually a different cause for the
black spots in this image, and a solution (which I don't understand),
has already been given.

Yes, noted Steve. Thankfully, I haven't had them for some time, (and I
don't know why I did get them), but Mark-Hendrick's answer is also noted,
(for when I get to that level). ;)

Rocks, pebbles, maybe some rock formations, more structure to the sand
(wind-blown ripples). Plants. Less clouds, thinner and higher ones.
A more cream, orange, or red colored sand, I've never seen any that
yellow.
The skull of some kind of horned cattle, and a beaten-up wood sign with
the name of some town on it.

You're the artist. You decide. You lose some points in the
technical-bragging-rights arena, and it isn't permitted if you want to enter
anything in the IRTC, and Steve will burn you at the stake. But yeah, it's done,
just not real often here.

Interesting to note though, the higher up you go on the monetary scale with
respect to the cost of the 3d app, the more post work you see done on the final
images in PS. Of course I think the more you pay for your app, the more likely
you are to depend on its results for your paycheck, so, things like cloning and
multi-pass become a necessity if you want to eat.

My suggestion: a scorpion carrying little scorpion babies defending itself
from a rattler snake. Give a little element of action to the picture, huh?
