I've changed the ocean function, toned down the area light and added a
couple
of clouds. Render time ~20 hours

I thought about adding some birds or plants, but I kinda like the desolate
look.

Comments? Suggestions?

Gail

The atmosphere and colour are very nice: I should not add much, or even
anything. Only IMO the 2 clouds look a bit too much like they were
painted on afterwards :)

I like this image alot. Something about the artifice of that structure and
the elemental quality of the ocean. The water texture is coming up real
good. I suspect that a chop like that would be compounded on a smaller scale,
an effect that many seem to be getting by doing just that... adding a scaled
down replica of the same rmf into the first. The uniformity of the wood
texture is striking me too. What if the rocks were a volcanic black?

Very good, however...

The water seems to be a tad too reflective. It does look more like snow
than water. There should also be, as J. Charter pointed out, smaller
wavelets and ripples on the big waves.

Since most of the illumination comes from the setting sun, the back side
of the rocks and the structure should be almost black. The structure
doesn't appear to have any shadow.

How come the Sun is a bright yellow, yet the highlight it produces on
the water is almost white?

> Suggestions?

- Moss/algae on the rocks.
- The rocks should be wet around the water level. At least as high as
the waves hit.
- Foam near the rock edges (although I think this would prove rather
hard to do!)

You probably want to kill me by now, so I'll shut up.

Mee too.

> Comments? Suggestions?

I love the overall tone and feel of this image but the clouds on the left
look kinda cheesy. You could lose them and not hurt the image at all.

Will do. There is already a smaller version, I think it's a little too
small.

I'll roughen it up a bit

I'll give that a try.

There's always a 'but' <grin>

I'll tone it down a bit

The sun is the only light in the scene. I'll try dropping the ambient a bit.

I think the shadows are getting lost on the dark rock and the reflection.

Um, because the sun is yellow, but the lightsource is white. Will fix.

Shouldn't be too hard

<shudder>

Thanks

It seems I need better clouds.

I want some clouds there, think I need to experiment a lot more with media
clouds. (Those were just scaled spheres with spherical density scattering
and
absorbtion media)

Opinions are just that, opinions. I personally like the look of it. Fits
with the oriental picture theme.
