    Tell that to Bobcats...

Nature has needs that Robotics does not. Most cats use their tails as
signaling devices in social and mating actions. Only a few, the Cheetah
being the most notable example, have any other use for their tail. In fact,
I have seen cats lose their prey because their flicking tail gave them away.
Here in Florida, a strain of seaside cat has developed that predominately
has a stub tail. I suspect it is because they catch more lizards. The mating
purpose of the tail is superceded by the hunting needs.

Robot cats would need no tail unless there was a purpose that the
designer added just for that...

That looks great. Must have taken a lot of patience to model. All you need now
are details; little gaps here and there where things attach to each other to
make it look a little less CG. Some interlocking segments at the joints. And
don't forget to give it a lot of grunge so it will have some history.

Right, it really looks like the rat-things (at least more like a 'cat' as
subject says).

It's about a plot to reprogram everyone's brain, foiled by a hacker and
a skateboard messenger working for an alliance of (among others) the
Mafia and the Central Intelligence Corporation.

Relevance: Guard-dogs with nuclear-powered cyborg bodies that look like
giant robot rats. (Nice doggie.)

By Neal Stephenson, author subsequently of <Cryptonomicon> and <The
Diamond Age>.
