Okay, I scaled the water ridgedMF different and made some other minor
changes. I reduced the size of an area light and raised the accuracy-value
of the water, so it took only 8 h and a bit.

Now if I could find a way to model the bow-wave (?) and the waves for the
oars. Any ideas other than an image_map-pigment-function?

Yes: very much better :) I like the atmosphere. It has an ancient
look...

Nice looking ship. Is it your own model or is it available anywhere? I
always wanted a ship like that.

It's handcoded and not yet finished (it was modelled to be seen from this
side). In addition I used some Isosurfaces, where pov-primitives would have
been enough, so it does not render to fast. But, if it's not to urgent, I
will see what to add and donate it to an Objects Collection - it will
probably be used in some more of my scenes anyway.

The height of the waves looks much better now, maybe a lower scale would
be even better (as others mentioned, the scaling in the scene looks
slightly strange anyway, the waves look quite right in relation to the
tower, but not to the ship).

The line from the ship's sail directly in front of the sun should be
changed too IMO.

proximity pattern (see you in some years :-)

if they are in a line or some mathematical arrangement, you could do it
just with calculations.

Thank you! 'Ancient look' is what I was heading for :-)

I scaled it down and it looks indeed better IMO. Don't know, why the scaling
looks strange. Perhaps it's really just the waves, perhaps it's the
viewpoint 6.7 'meter' above waterlevel (as standing on another ship).

That's also solved with the differend water, I think, at least if you didn't
like the straight shadow of the line. I'll make it a bit thicker, so it
becomes "complete" with these quality settings.

Oh, yes! If I'm gooing on vacations for some month I'll give it a try ...
sometimes, maybe :-)

I know the formulars for all parts that meets the water, but I'm a bit
scared by the math needed to rotate and translate them correctly. I'll
probably make an orthographic shot from above and use the image as a map for
a pigment function - may be to slow, though.

Much improved water. Something needs to give the ship or the tower a better
sense of scale, they seem mismatched.

What are the settings for your rmf?

Hm, there are people standing both on the ship and on the tower - to small I
guess. I wonder if the flags are, what makes the scale look wrong. Perhaps
they are just to big? I changed the scaling of the waves already (again) but
it does not help to fit the tower and the ship together. Now I'm trying to
change the positions of the ship and the tower bit, which makes the scene
less static (or that's what I hope).
