A link rather than the image - obviously a lot still to do, but the elements
are coming together. http://www.tomandlu.co.uk/worship/v1.jpg

Rather nice colours and textures, I think. Obviously some of it still needs
work, the pedestal (?) for one.
If you're up to it, I'd suggest throwing even more little detail into the
gold/pearl ornaments. Perhaps some sort of normal pattern in the gold, creating
the impression of a multitude of tiny details. Yeah it's detailed already, but I
seem to remember such decorations to be even more elaborate.

all on my "must do" list - funnily, the gold has a normal, but I've found
that a global ambient completely washes out normals. Shame, as I like that
unearthly effect you get with it.

At the moment I'm still concentrating on getting the large elements into
place - rather tedious work, and I'm looking forward to following up with
the textures and finer details.

Dammit! Someone ALWAYS steals my ideas. Mine was more Tibetan though. Maybe
I'll come back to it later after the competition. Good luck. (And a nice
start too.)

Is the figure from Poser? If so where did you get such a good texture for
it?

Aww, don't let it put you off - different takes on similiar themes are what
makes the IRTC fun.

Poser 3 - I used 3dWin and UV mapper and painted the colours in PSP,
sampling them from the source image
(http://www.bhaktisangeet.com/gods/80g.jpg). I think it's the radiosity that
makes it look nice since there's certainly nothing special going on apart
from that. Oh, there's one oddity - the pose is impossible - I scaled the
figure <1,1,0.5> to keep the feet closer together.
