Howdy everybody,

Well I promise this will almost definitely be the last WIP pic of the beach,
and I can say that with almost certainty. The next one (if I ever finish it)
will more than likely be the last, maybe :)

Well I sorted out the sand below the water and the sand/water line itself.
The clouds have changed quite a bit, I changed them from wrinkles to bozo. I
also scaled down the water quite a lot. There is just one more object to
finish coding and add and then I can get on with the final render.

Right the three problems I know of for this pic are
1: Clouds are too bright
2: Resolution or AA settings need to be increased (but this was only a test)
3: I'm still not totally happy with the wet/dry sand line (any hints?)

I'm sure people can come up with a few more. Render time was just over 5hrs
on PIII 667. It should have been 800*450 but I had to stop the render here
before I left work.

Enjoy, and as usual, comments and criticisms more than welcome.

Kev

Looks very good, the waterline seems very steep, but that's not really
bad, because otherwise it would require some kind of surge.

IMO the sky is a bit green for beeing that dark in relation to the coulds,
but that's quite subjective.

everything else looks pretty natural, good work!

This is the kind of pic I love! Paintish texture, saturated, surreal...

Thanks, I've now modelled and added the final touch and am now rendering the
final image. Not sure how long it will take though, hopefully it will be
finished by the time I return here to work on Monday, but I've cranked up
the aa settings so I'm not too sure if it'll be done.

Thankyou, hopefully the final pic will be done some time next week, fingers
crossed.

Those things sticking in the sand make the picture
very cool. They add a subtle bit if strangeness, in a very
cool way ... like Gilles Trans does in many of his renders.
What are those things anyway? They look like they
have (refracting) lenses in them.

Me...& .Gilles in the same post. I am truly honured. I would just like to
say one (of many) things that looking at Gilles' images has taught me, and
that is 'sublety'. Be it normals, pigemnt, or strength of isoi's, sublety is
something that holds the key to a well presented image.

I'm not sure what they are but the final ones will have a bit of dispersion
thrown in for good measure. Please present your own view :)

It looks great
you are right, though about the wet-dry line
in reality, there is no such line. youl need a wide "border" not a line
and you might want to add foam... even if there are no waves, ther is,
usually, a thin layer of foam floating on water near the coast line.

other than that the scene looks quite realistic
keep up the good work

Yes. Subtle is so difficult to do, at least for me. :)

Good answer. :) They really make the image very cool. I
eagerly await the final version.
