...to get us in the holiday season this year. The tree is a shameless ripoff
of Remco de Korte's tree macro postings from last year, although I did put a
bit more shine on the ornaments. The glow lights can't be transformed yet
(soon, I hope?), so I just put them into a cone shape coinciding with the
tree's location. As you can see, there are a few strays that are not quite
natural. But you get the idea - Happy Holidays everyone!

Ooops, pardon me. I meant to say "translate", not transform.

You sure make it look a lot more 'Xmassy' then I ever could.
BTW I've just put my version in a screensaver. You can get it here:

Merry Xmas!

A macro can turn around the problem
#macro Lights (PosLight)
light_source { PosLight,1/nblight
glow {size .2 type 0}
fade_distance 4 fade_power 2
}
light_source { PosLight, 1/nblight
area_light .5,.5,5,5
adaptive 0
orient
circular }
#end

Very nice. Frosted lens appearance and all, but the pine needles seem too sparse for
my taste in trees. I
know, too much memory and parsing and such.

I found that if you give the location a slight placement offset from <0,0,0> that
glows will transform if said
to later in their own statements. Just that they can't start at zero otherwise
nothing happens. Nor can they
be transformed externally despite a preset location, but then most of you know that.

Merry Christmas. Too soon perhaps, but the tree looked festive enough to say that.

Oh, by the way, I've put a new version on my page at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~remcodek/pov.html which may be slightly easier to use...

That's great but I'm not a Christian and I havn't
got anything to sell, so Christmas really ain't my
scene.
But happy Christmas anyway, I do believe in holidays
of any kind.

Glows can be transformed just fine...the only problems with
transformations are that they don't move when you transform the light
source they are attached to or the union statement you put them in.
