Hi all

Ok here is my first try with my new poser 3 from the 3d world magazine. This
started as a little desktop for my friend. It's a shame about the elbow and
her hair could do with being better but that's what came with my poser. The
water is a ridgedmf isosurface with absorption media, angle dependent
reflection and all of those bells and whistles. The rock is a distorted
sphere. Thanks to Mick and Gilles for helping me out with a bird model.

This render took 31hrs on a p133 with radiosity and at 1280*960, this is a
smaller version. A 800*600 version can be seen on my web page under
interests. I could also put up a link to the 1280*960 if anyone want it,
it's about 500k

Thanks for any comments/ criticisms

Kev

Since my girlfriend is watching over my shoulder, all I'm going to say
is "very nice water" ;)

On another note, is that a mole on her right thigh?

Hmm, there's some chunkiness around her left shoulder and elbow. Is that a
poser thing? I saw some program somewher that could remove it, I think (but
as I didn't have poser at the time, I didn't take note)

How did you do the bird, btw? It's very nice.

All in all, a good image. Makes me think of tarot cards and the like.

Geoff

Thanks I think I've got the water object about right, which is good as all
my current projects use water in some way

Nope, it took me a while to figure out what is was but it is the shadow from
the ornamental guard of the sword.

The chunkiness is to do with poser, unfortunately the models that come with
v3 are not very highly detailed and so problems occur, if you look closely
there are a lot of problems: chunkiness on the shoulder, the elbow joint is
not good, the wrist changes direction too suddenly(you can tell by the
reflection and texturing) and the waist also changes abruptly (obvious line
across it) I trien to get around the faceting problem by going for a worked
bronze texture which is not very easy to make out at this size but uses a
negatice crackle normal.

Superb Water, I'm envious!
I think I've given up with close up Poser models, even in 4 there are
problems. If you use the accompanying Poser texture maps with a good
converter you can get very realistic textures.

Well I was going to buy v4 but I decided that I can't afford it really.
