The light isn't an area_light, because of an area_light you will only
see a light-spot on the center, i wrote up a little macro to avoid this
and put there many light_source's, it's very time-expensive, but it
looks good. I used a grid of 4x4 light's to take less time to render it,
i'm still working on it.

ceiling panels... i think that it's worth the try :o)

I like this image, it seems to have a strong "onimous" feeling. However
I think that perhaps if you added a door (with hinges of course) and left
it about half open, with some scattering media, I could look a little bit
better, However, If that ruins the lighting, then it would be best left
out.

to say the truth, it was my intention to place there a good door, with
some media to simulate something like glow from outside...

Very nice, I like the mood of it.

Suggestions? Try changing the aspect ration to either 3:4 portrait or
16:9 landscape, and move the light spot off-center (maybe half-way to
the upper left corner?) and see if you like the effect.

In this case, a simple silhouette texture on a polygon object might do. I don't
think that would be too hard.

I'm sorry. That should have been two sentences. I think the ceiling is too
shiny, it should be more matte.
We say Linoleum in the USA too. If you want that, then your floor is ok. I was
suggesting vinyl floor tiles. They are more common over here in institutional
buildings. Linoleum is mostly used in homes. OR so I've noticed.

Looking forward to it :)
