Hi Folks,

I was playing with the slide projector code Ingo posted, trying to apply
the lens equations which were also posted and using media photons to see
the light paths.

If anyone wants the modified code I'll post it.

Just over 20hr render time, about a half million surface photons, one
and a half million media photons.

I am really glad I'm using a 1GHz Athlon these days ...

Bye for now,
	Mike Andrews.

Where's the smoke that should be issuing up from the focal point? :-)

Why bother asking? Of course people will want to see what the pov script
is. Using it might prove difficult for some; luckily, I think I could
manage a smaller render within a day.
It's pretty spectacular, if not for the overall object itself then for the
great media+photons.

Ok, I've posted the code in p.t.s-f.

Yes, my original working title was 'Early Star-Wars Project weapons
test' ;-)

If you tone down the settings a bit (media samples, photon spacing,
antialiasing), a 640x480 renders in about 15min on my machine ... I
cranked up the quality settings a long way for this image.

I just put in the frame to contain the media volume and give a bit of
structure to the image.

Ooh, nice. Very subtle dispersion and light colouration.
Expected the light path to be different, time to dig out the optics
books.
