Hi there.

Well I've been rendering this for a couple of days at 0pps and decided to
stop there (about 200 lines short) and do some more work on it. I can only
really take the credit for the clouds and the water.
The hills are an isosurface covered in grass from a modified version of
Gilles' MakeGrass macro i.e. allow use of trace and hidden patch (other side
of hills) removal. I realise this is overkill as the detail is lost in this
size render but I just felt like doing it :) The reeds are also made using
the MakeGrass macro, but the bullrushes are my own work, well something had
to be.
The tree is made with Andrew Clinton's SplineTree, although I may change it
to the weeping willow that comes with Gilles' MakeTree. Just thought,
wouldn't this image be a bit bland without Gilles' hard work :)

Well I'd better get on with adding something else of my own work that should
create some shadows which are lacking at the moment. As always comments and
criticisms more than welcome.

Thanks, but any chance of some more detailed constructive criticism as
something feels a bit wrong and I can't quite put my finger on it?

Really? Hmm... I'd guess it has to do with the fog/sky. (shrug)

Thanks. Well I think I've decided that the clouds need to be more
transparent and the grass needs to be a bit greener.

Nice picture, I really like it. For criticism: trunk of tree seems to be
"CG" and grass in water could be more "alternating": i'd expect, that
some roots are more inclined, especially in the outer line.

Thanks Vahur.

Well I've changed the tree to a more willowy tree using Gilles' Maketree,
which I feel looks a lot better. I agree with your comments about the
grasses in the water but I can't quite get them how I would really want so
I'll see what else I can do (probably nothing in the end).

It quite impressive and serene. The objects seem properly scaled in relation
to one another, and both the water and the sky look quite natural.

As for what seems a bit wrong. . . Well, on the whole my eye feels cheated.
The fog is too dense, obscuring most of the texturing details and the ground
cover lacks sufficient variation in size, placement, and type to compensate.
As a result, I take it all in quickly rather than lingering over, and
appreciating the details. Then I get to the tree, an object with some
clarity, but its not all there. Somehow it has only managed to barely
squeeze itself into view in spite of all of the space available in the pi.

That's just my two cents. It's still better than anything I've ever done. :)
