...plus some other junk. I've decided that, considering my limited
abilities, I'll stick to simple abstract mathematical stuff for a while.
After this picture was finished, I noticed an interesting (but
unintentional) coincidence: The reflection of the green thing on the gold
sphere makes a triangle with strait lines.
Regards,
Dave

Well, that's.. um...
...hmm.
You've upheld the proud and honorable tradition of raytraced images that
make the viewer say, "Whoa! WTF is that?" :)

Interesting.
Is there iridescence on the little spheres?

Nothin' wrong with that!

Ya sure? Perfectly straight? (that is if the sphere were to have a uniform
normal)

Right on! I don't know what it is either.

Thanks, and yep, just plain old glass spheres (2000 of 'em) with irid.

Oops - once again, I spoke too soon - I re-rendered the sphere with a plain
normal and sure enough, there was a slight bend in the triangle reflection.
You guys always catch me! Drat!
Later,
Dave

Hmm, you could use MegaPOV trace() to place blob components. Trace from the
camera to where you want the reflection to be, save the surface normal,
calculate the reflection ray and place the blob component anywhere along it.

Is there nothing that MegaPOV can't do?!?! Maybe I will have to try it
out...

It's come up a little short on the world peace front, but I hear Chris is
working on a patch.

It's part of the
MassMindControlWorldDominationUniversalConquestAndFreeDonuts Patch. The
full version will be released sometime after POV 4.0 as PsyPov,
disguised as a version of POV which reads the user's mind, but there are
already pieces of it in current versions(the free donuts, for instance).
Now, you will forget anything about this message and render some glow
scenes with lots of reflective spheres, torii and checkered planes! And
don't forget to use the number 42 and the Golden Ratio somewhere in
every one of the scenes.
:-)
