How about making it darker so that the room is mainly illuminated by the film
(as in the real cinema).
BTW, you should consider watching all your films in a raytraced theater ;-)

Looks nice. Kinda dark (which is what a theater should be), so I can't
quite make out the furniture. Is that a table next to the couch(?) ?
What would be really neat is to actually see the projection coming through
the room, but you might have to make it a bit darker to achieve the right
effect.

Maybe someone can help me with that-- in my tests I removed all light
sources, I left the screen ambient 1, and everything else ambient 0. Using
defualt megapov radiosity the screen illuminated precisely nothing... how
can I make it cast a glow??

I was telling my brother how I was going to ray-trace a massive hi-fi system
with giants 30 inch subwoofers etc.. and he talked me out of it, saying no
matter how well I modelled it, it would never produce sound.
I guess he was right, but you know you've been raytrcing too long when....

Thanks! Yes, there's a little round table of my own design... being orange
against a red background probably doesn't help matters.

I actually designed it with sort of a futuristic plasma screen in mind... If
you look carefully you can make out the little red light indicating that
it's "on"

You might want to move from stereo to 5.1 surround
sound, and perhaps provide seating for two (might be
a big chair for two to curl up in...)
My personal taste would run to more futuristic looking
speakers. Perhaps spheres suspended from the ceiling
instead of the big-box look. And the blue cloth is not
what I would choose.

Hmm, IMHO if you are using radiosity, then ambient should be turned off
globally (since ambient is essentially fake radiosity). It certainly won't
contribute to radiosity.
How about going the whole hog - basically fake a projector and project your
image at your screen?

Yeah I know.. but how else can I give it that backlit look? ambient works
but doesn't cast a glow, so I'm still stuck!

Because it's not a projection, it's a flat plasma screen :-)
