:-) I was waiting for someone to say that, lets just say theres 2 speakers
behind you and one behind the screen that you can't see.

If guests arrive I can produce extra seating at the push of a button.. well
a few buttons anyway (object {sofa})

if it's a plasma display, there can't be a speaker behind it.

sorry to say this, but the sound in that room would be pretty bad. the
walls need either a different shape or something on them to help the
sound or not get in its way. you may have noticed that most theaters
have curtains covering the walls nearly completely. other theaters have
nice oval shapes and/or saw tooth wall and ceilings. the reason of
course is accoustics. plain, flat walls bounce sound too much. also,
if you take a look at Home Theater Interiors magazine, you'll find that
most high end rooms have all the speakers recessed. and there is
usually only indirect lighting from wall sconces or alcoves. real
theater chairs and loveseats are also common although sofas are too.
good start though.

Why not?
Oh well...make it a printed organic LED screen...attach a piezoelectric
driver to the back, and the display could *be* the speaker. Sound would
likely be horrible though, and the vibrating display would probably give
people headaches.

BTW, has there been any recent progress with OLED technology? It looked
very promising when I first read about it(low power consumption, low
manufacturing cost, the ability to cheaply print them on many different
surfaces, such as flexible, transparent plastic or glass, high
resolution, short response time, etc.), but I haven't seen much more
about it...

How about a library of DVDs and Videos along the wall?
And a 'bar' recessed into the other wall?
and a nice big sofa in the middle with pillows - and some speakers in the
corners?

Seems you might need media in that room then, and turn diffuse way up over
1. The MegaPov radiosity uses the diffuse amount and not the ambient
amount. Add 'media on' in the radiosity statement. Not sure if you'll ever
be able to get anything substantial without wrecking the rest of the scene.

I don't think media would be necessary just to get light emitted from
the screen...

> The MegaPov radiosity uses the diffuse amount and not the ambient

Actually, it uses the diffuse amount for the amount radiosity
contributes to the lighting of the object, but still uses the ambient
value for the amount of light from the object itself. You usually do a
glowing object by giving it a high ambient, though you should use
ambient 0 for non-glowing objects.
The old radiosity used the ambient value for the amount of radiosity
applied to the object, so ambient 0 meant that no radiosity would be
used for the object. This is what was changed in the new radiosity.

Why?
