Hello,

Finally, I have made the black acoustic Fender guitar as nice as I can make
it.

However, I have some trouble fitting the Fender logo on it. I have to use an
image file cause I can't find the right font ;-((

I hope you enjoy it.

Greetz, Erick

Globally nice. That's a tough object to model, I know.

You'll probably never find a font with that reversed "F", so you
must go with a high-res image_map, maybe a height_field to get the
engraved look.

Now, for the small details :
 - you may give some relief to the screw treads using a spiral normal,
or even better, an isosurface of a cylinder with a spiral pigment
function.
 - watch out the strings thickness. Look at a string pack for
the gauge values. Also use a spiral normal for the filleted strings.
 - make sure that the strings are connected tangently to the
head mechanics
 - pay attention to the scale and orientation of the neck's
wood (rosewood), and give it a suitable finish.

Fabien.

In this case, the image map is acceptable, though I am sure the font is out
there (somewhere).
Your transparency seems to be improperly defined, though.

I recommend using a lower color count ( 16-color paletted image) and
declaring the specific background color as transparent (transmit
palette_number,1 - ex. transmit 1,1).

When I reduced your fender.gif to 16 colors, I noticed that black (and near
black) were occupying entries 1,2,3,5,7, and 8. In that case (your image
utility may function differently) you would need six transmit statements in
your texture.

BTW, stamp out gifs. Use png's.

I think the connection of the strings to the screws should be different:
here it looks like they go right through the center. Normally the
strings are wound around them and the ends of the strings stick out for
a few centimeters, all at different angles. But maybe this kind of
guitar is different...

Brush Script MT is very near this... However since text objects are
very slow, I think using an imgae_map is probably a better idea.

	Nice guitar BTW

Nice modelling. It'll be difficult to put this in a scene and
show it off at it's best.

Thanks guys, for all the advice and suggestions.

After all those months sporadiously trying to improve the scene, I got a bit
tired.

However, I'll try to follow up some of the suggestions and improve the
scene.

Greetings,
Erick

Hmm. thought Ken would have been by before now...

Have you tried all of the links at
http://www.1-free-fonts-true-type.com/freefonts.htm ?

If they (Fender)are on the web, contact them and let them know about
http://www.e-signature.com/ They should get the font made and claim it as
their own, offer it to web cruisers, etc. ;)

More likely it was originally drawn by hand.

Maybe drafting tools were involved, but computers weren't.
