Simple csg with a nice (and fast) metal tex thanks to Rune. I have not
used a gradient y along the cylinder lengths (this was just to see how
fast the normal averaging technique rendered, and that would have
required a little too much modification), but it still came out looking
great.

Total render time ~ 9hrs on a P233. My old tex with a high frequency
spiralling normal took ~ 1 1/2 weeks to do half of this scene.

Go to p.b.s-f. Rune posted the tex (the credit goes to him, not me) there
under faking small rings there. I just scaled it to suit.

Quite a while ago people were trying circular brushed metal textures, this
particular one would go well I think, in a repeating (tiled) pattern sort of
way.  Although the one at that time looked good.

I don't know about those textures back then, but I know that the technique I
use makes the textures automatically behave somewhat realistically when you
move around your objects and/or light_sources and/or camera. I'm not sure
which kind of tiling you mean, but I'm sure it could be done rather easily
with this texture.
