All procedural (the pattern on the cup is mandel).
megapov5a - variable reflection, radiosity and trace used.
Advice on radiosity would be much appreciated.

Hmmm.... I'm working on something that looks *very* similar -- right down to
the gold trim... sorry I can't talk to you, you're the competition. ;-)

Very cool cup. Since you're using the M.P. radiosity I can't think of any hint other
than to
adjust diffuse in all finishes to change how things react. More is more, less is less
far as that
goes seems to me.
Those jaggies are making me itch so I better leave :-)

Great shape (but not my cup of tea, I prefer a proper mug).
Gold on teh rim might look better than what you have now,
and is there a possibility of using your mandelbrot pattern
and a normal or as an isosurface and just have it the same
colour as the cup, might be interesting like that.
Like the table top, it looks just like a formika (sp?) table
that you'd find in a canteen or a cafe.

Where is the Mad Hatter...?
Some bumps on that napkin...? ( in pattern )
Some reflection or glare on the windows...?

I would use an area light. You might consider a smaller aliasing value.
Recently I've been favouring +a0.265, but your mileage...
I have gone to the trouble to create the entire atmosphere I am attempting
to simulate, right down to wall the camera will never see, or lights that
are not in the immediate line-of-sight, skies if there is no ceiling, etc.
MP requires a lot of fine tuning in the global/radiosity section. I
recommend reading the FAQ, fine tuning your scene file, rendering, and then
re-reading the FAQ. But, as Ken says, I am a tad anal. :)

Well, the version I posted had no aa, but I'll try that setting....

Well, I've got a couple more windows out of shot, a textured sky that is not
in scene. I was considering hanging pictures on out-of-shot walls.... This
is POV, anal comes with the territory... ;)
BTW does anyone know whether atmospheric media is compatible with megapov
radiosity?

Me too.

Well, it is gold (blobs placed by trace macro), but I've brightened the gold
since this posting...

Like a relief? Hmmm....

I noticed that - it was originally meant to be a posh polished wood table,
and that's still what I'll be heading for. Still, it's nice to know how to
do formica.

The napkin is just a stand-in - I'm hoping to make a nice iso-surface doily
(sp?)
> Some reflection or glare on the windows...?
Read my mind - just added window glass last night (amongst other things).
