Hello,

I've just started using PovRay and I'm thinking about using it for
rendering animated sprites and backgrounds for my next game. I'm still
experimenting, what do you think about my duck?

I was wondering, does anyone have experience with rendering separate
sprites and combining them to a game, and does anyone know an example of
a game that uses graphics rendered with PovRay?

Greetings,
Mike

I like it - maybe some additional texturing on the eyes? Phong highlights
maybe (I guess these could cause problems with sprites?)

Looking good. I suppose it needs to be simple for use in a
game, and you'd need two versions the fully illuminated version
and one in shadow.

Nope, but I suppose you could use POV to make new enemies in Doom :)

That's one cool duckie you have shown here, Mike :)

There was a game for Linux that, upon installation, uses POV to render
all its graphics. Regretfully, I don't recall the name, but a quick
search on Linuxberg should show it up.

I started on a remake of an old c64 game (krakout) and am using povray to
render some of the graphics. I hope to do the majority of the graphics using
it. Your duck looks good.

Cute little fella. Can't wait to see him in action.

In my Red Hat install, I think there's a simple game called something
like "Same Gnome" that features POV-Ray-rendered planets from our solar
system as the game 'pieces'.

Yes, the lighting is a big problem. I want to make a side-scrolling
platform game (the final images will be a lot smaller). The main problem
is that the duck has to fit into the level at any position, so there has
to be some kind of (moving) shadow on the ground too!

I've seen a few games with rendered graphics (mainly board games), but
none with real sprites moving through a landscape.

Regards,
Mike
