I'm working on a new POV-Ray game called Missile Bots.
The bots shoot missiles at each other, and the last standing bot is the
winner.
I plan to improve the look of the game, for example the explosions. I also
intent to let the players design themselves how their own bots looks.
Besides those changes I also need to improve some more basic parts of how
the game works...
Greetings,
Rune

The gaming advantage is that you program the bots in advance, like in Robowar,
so you have to develop a good strategy with the limitation that you can't
adjust it in the middle of the game

This sounds a lot like RoboWar(a Mac-only game, where you program robots
to compete in an "arena"). Some suggestions: bullets and mines as well
as missiles, a larger arena, maybe different shapes of arenas,
user-defined robot models...

Well, that's a problem actually.
The matches can be rather long, so the resulting animations could easily
take up 3 to 5 MB of space. While people don't mind downloading IRTC winners
of that size, I doubt that many people will download an animation that big,
which only shows a Missile Bot match.
The render time is another problem. My computer is really slow...

Others have told me that. I have downloaded and attempted to install RoboWar
on my PC using a mac emulator, but failed. I have also failed to find any
screenshots from the game on the internet.

These are fine suggestions, but I want to keep this game very simple. If the
game becomes a success, I might develop other games.

I intent to make it possible for the bot designer to design both the
behavior and the visual appearance of his/her bot.

I have seen a version that runs natively in windows. If
you're running a linux, you can go there for something very
similar: http://realtimebattle.sourceforge.net/
There are some screenshots too but don't expect too much
since it's above all a programing game...
