I was not trying to do anything which might resemble "The X-Files", but
I still think this is kinda neat. I really like media, a lot.

Very cool. Even though you say you're not trying to make this an
"X-Files"-inspired image, I can't help but think about the "Tunguska"
episode where Mulder and Krychek (sp?) were prisoners in a russian camp.

I think of the insides to a derelict space craft. Those blocks held together by
some sort of mutual force maybe.

This looks great, I was looking at it for quite a while
and still couldn't work out where the light was coming
from.

thankyou all for the nice words....
The lights are coming from the top (two of them, one -x and one +x, you
are looking down the z axis...) and one from below. This was actually a
fun piece to do, only rendered in about 1hr on a PIII 500. I find that
with atomspheric media, enclosing the scene in a really big, hollow
object is the way to go. In this case a sphere of radius 15000 (oh, and
it is hollow.... ;-)

I really like this. Can I get either the source or a 1024*768 version
please.
I think it's time to change my wallpaper.

it is in p.b.s-f... I would make the media finer, maybe increase the
samples, but I have not had the time yet...:-)

Something odd is happening here. I rendered this scene on my plain
Pentium 133 (non MMX, even). My render time was slightly less than 1.5
hours, using Mega-POV 0.4, a 640x480 image size, and antialiasing of
0.3.
If my Pentium 133 did the image in less than 1.5 hours, I would have
expected your PIII 500 should have done it in less than 15 minutes.
I'm really puzzled. What's happening here?
Later,
Glen
