Looks like he's about to be captured. Probably by a pawn.

Like to see the rest of the pieces.

Hmmm... maybe you guys can help. To make this rook even more nauseatingly
adorable, I thought I'd give it give a little bucktooth. I've got ideas
aplenty on how to make the tooth, but I want to make the mouth(a transformed
torus) look like its inside is black. I've thought of using a simple disc,
but that wouldn't have any depth to it. Is there a way to use a csg
difference statement so that the texure where the piece is subtracted is
different from that of the whole? Hope that made some sense. Oh, and the
rook is a mesh object, so I thought that might effect things, too.

Being a mesh it might or might not be possible. No harm in trying. Just
difference away a sphere just inside the face part where a mouth cavity would
go, the sphere (scaled asymmetrical if needed too) should protrude a little
outside the rook of course. Mainly all you need do is put a texture or even
just pigment in the sphere statement and it will be used in the stead of the
rooks texture.

Thanks for the help, Bob, that tells me something about CSG. However, the
CSG just punch a hole in the outer shell of the meah. I guess I'll have to
find another way.

Just add the sphere back with 'union' afterward then.
Meshes aren't my cup of (Utah) tea :-)
If you have MegaPov there's a chance of using new features on that mesh though.
Looking at the Mesh section of the html documentation didn't convince me CSG
would be a sure thing either though.

Thanks again, Bob. One simple statement in MegaPov, and the mission was
accomplished. Enclosed a sample.

Great. but no teeth yet? I was thinking you could use 'superellipsoid' shapes
for them.  Something like:

// two front teeth
#declare Tooth=
superellipsoid { <0.75, 0.5>
 rotate 90*x scale <1, 1.25, .5>
  pigment {rgb 1.25}
   finish {ambient .2 diffuse .4 specular .6 roughness .009 reflection .15}
}

object {Tooth  translate <-1,-1,-.25>}
object {Tooth  translate <1,-1,-.25>}

Cool. I'm not very familiar with the superellipsoid, but thats definitely a
proper tooth shape, so I went ahead and used it. Once again, thanks for the
help.
