Good Evening all (or at least it's evening where I am :)
This is my first post to *any* newsgroup, so bear with me if I make any
major foulups...
I have, however been lurking here for the past 2000 or so messages (IOW I
downloaded 2000 back messages last weekend, and fried my brain by reading
them all in one day)
I got bored of looking at the POV-Ray icon on my desktop the other day,
so I decided to do a different one :)
This is for Win 9x boxes in case you haven't figured it out already :)
For those of you on other OS's, it's just yer bog standard truecolour
.bmp file, renamed to a .ico extension.
I'll state right now that I used Moray 3.2 (registered) to do the scene
because I find I can put scenes together a hell of a lot faster in Moray
than I can by hand coding (translation: I'm one of those strange people
who can't think in numbers and equations... :)
Anybody who wants the source is welcome to it, but it's not exactly brain
surgery, consisting of one plane, one sphere, one point light, one camera
and two textures...
I think that's enough of my rambling.
Bye for now,
Jamie.

Glad you could make it, welcome.
It would probably have been best to just upload the Bmp instead of Ico, since
the idea is to see it here. Although unless you know already other larger Bmp
files may as well be taboo so Jpg is the preferred choice. More to know if you
haven't read the povray.frequently-asked-questions group here yet, will tell
plenty about things at these newsgroups.

I now use your icon for my POV-Ray short cut!
Thank you.
I have always wondered why POV-Ray for Windows
comes such a boring tiled floor icon.
(Does anybody know?)

Got a look at it and I must say that it is puzzling the POV-Ray icon doesn't
have the reflective sphere already. One of those great mysteries of life I
suppose. Yours looked fine to me except that a sky showing in it might have
been good.

Damn, my mail program posted the .jpg but not my rambling. (not
necessarily a bad thing :)
Anyway, the .jpg version of the icon has been posted, just for you <grin>
One point is that I did post the .bmp, but it was posted as
Classi_Icon.ico. To see the original .bmp, rename it to Classic_Icon.bmp
:)
Hohum, thanks for your comments, anyway.
I think I'm going to log off and go to bed now, as I'm starting to make
far too many typo's.
To Tor Olav:
You're welcome.
I thought about a sky, but since I use solid black as my desktop
background, it didn't seem to fit. And besides, it was just something I
did on the spur of the moment ;)
Bye for now,
Jamie.

Cool, it's now my wharf icon for POV.
Hmm, the Simply 3D icon is a reflective sphere on a checkered plane too...
now I have two...

Thanks, I found that if I tell the newsreader (Outlook) to Open instead of Save
I could view it as Bmp because it apparently instinctively knew it was even with
the Ico extension. Don't recall encountering that before.

It's the perfect icon for POV-Ray!
