The idea for this one originally came from a concept I called "Snowman's
Vacation", which involved a small, sandy desert island, an ocean, a
glass snowman, and maybe a couple of palm trees. Unfortunately, my
machine is too feeble to render palm trees, so I made this instead
(which still took over 30 hours, IIRC.. damn this slow old bus).
There's a lot I don't like about this one now, but I thought the water
looked pretty damn impressive.

I like the foreground, but the background height field does not look very
good, too noisy I think. The orange thing(s) are cool, reminds me a bit of
hammered copper, although a bit too orange to be copper. Facet normal? The
water is, as you say, pretty damn impressive!
The thing on the right looks like a glass snowman, I'm not sure whether
that's good or bad :)

I agree - the water and the foreground rock are impressive!

I intended for it to have a raw volcanic sort of look to it, and I think
it accomplishes that nicely.. but as you say, it IS a bit rough. The
truth is, you're only seeing the top fraction of the height field; it
had some massive y scaling to get the jagged-silhouette look. There are
better ways to do that, but I didn't want to mess with them.

Facet normal, yep. The miscoloration wasn't intentional, for what it's
worth. At some point before I did the final render, it looked much more
coppery.. I'm not sure why it came out that way.

Don't you _like_ the isosurface? I mean; such a powerful feature should make
us glad!

I think it is great but i will not leave the official vers. as i have probably
said numerous times the GUI of mega disturbs me not to mention the fact it does
not save files to simple text... ect... ect... ect...
so you see i love the function just not the package it comes in...
I am thinking of ( trying ) recompiling the official w/ the various useful
patches...?
