You might want to check out GraphicConverter...it is a pretty good image
editor and can read and write about any format you are likely to find,
and then some. It also has the option of controlling the format of the
file extension(or leaving it out completely).(I just found this setting
and changed it to lower case, sorry about my earlier images)
It is shareware, about $35.

Does that mean I cannot make organized crime accent stereotypes? :-)

No, it's a file system thing :-)
blomb.s.jpgcopy isn't recognizable as a jpeg file (by any program I would think)
since the extension is wrong. There should have been a space between .jpg and
copy like the other two.

IrfanView informs me that this file is a jpeg with a wrong extension
and offers to rename it for me.
Renaming the file to "*.jpg copy" wouldn't solve the problems some
people are having because the extension would still be unrecognizeable
as a standard JPEG/JFIF one (the most common ones are .jpg and .jpeg
but there are others). It should read "* copy.jpg" if your system only
relies on extensions to distinguish file types.

Once again sorry for the inconvenience to everyone...
I wish i still had my PS 4.0 copy it did all this for me...
The old 3.0 does not therefore i assume the last image faulted in human (my typing
skills) I will remember to delete the "copy" after changing the extension name...
Sorry...
