Well, here's my latest. The X-Wing is from Wolf359, a mesh created by Harry
H. Chang. I imported it using Thomas Bair's 3DS2POV. If you use the
resulting mesh with UV-Pov or Mega-Pov, the textures are kept in tact and
can be rendered without any fiddling (although I couldn't help myself and
fixed a couple of things here and there).

The Tie-Interceptor is mine, and the lasers are something I'm working on.
What does everyone think? Any ideas for improvements are more then welcome.

Thanks,
Darcy

You're right, that was a close shot, and I don't think he entirely missed
it. If he moves just little (and I'm sure he will), it's gonna get him good.
Great job. Only thing that bothers me is that the atmosphere would look
nicer in orange than pink.

I think all the "laser blasts" were always short. Well maybe as long as these,
not sure. Just that this tends to look as though they are like real laser beams
:-)
The lighting on both craft seems wrong to me. The green illumination may be
okay but I can't see how the sunlight (starlight, whatever "sun" it is) is shone
upon them. Almost like the very front is getting light and not the rest.
Even if TonyB doesn't like pink it does okay, seems to be air-like of a
different kind than Earthly air is all. Although it doesn't blend into the
planet sphere at all, that might be something to check into.

ok, fill the scene with the ships, there is to much red planet - try
rendering at a dirrerent aspect ratio, and maybe get a little closer, and a
few extra ties would nt hurt !

I like it... i like it allot... i would like to see the tie fighter up
front... two reasons, one it is your work, two i'd just rather see the dark
forces being pursued...

I considered this, but I didn't want the tips closest to the camera to show
and I wanted to make sure it was obvious where the lasers came from. So
since it was always hard to tell exactly how long they erally should have
been, I took some creative liscence and concentrated more on the laser media
itself.

The main lights source is coming from far away in front, somewhat below them
and off a bit to the right.
I have a couple of weaker lights to try and even out the lighting (since a
real star would give off more light then at just one point). I guess I
dodn't do as good of a job there. Maybe I can try again with an area light
that covers a large area?

I'll definately look into it.

Hmm, a real laser beam would not show up at all. That must be an incredibly bright
beam with some incredibly thick haze though there is nothing diminishing the ships
from view... :-)(-: (palindrome smileys :-O) :-P

The ships look fine; I would work on giving the planet some more detail and
also change the atmosphere color to contrast better with the planet.

I like the pink atmosphere ( haze ) around the planet... Who says it has to
blend or even match... but if it is going to change maybe it should just change
to a orange as it nears the planet surface... if you keep it... it still looks
good to me... you are creating a space scene... i'm sure lucas did it more than
once...
( people get to teck. i saw a huge site on how the lightsaber should be like...
ect.. does it cast light... is it light or fire element ect... does it cast
shadows... ect... IT'S JUST A MOVIE...) anyway i'm babbling... see ya ...

Lovely; except that I like to see the Xwing get blown up.
