You have made a good step into the world of raytracing with povray. I see you even
placed an area_light in there. I'm sure you will find many of the little tricks to
getting the type of image you want as you learn more.

Also, don't forget the triangle object in pov. They render very fast and will
allow you to make such shapes as the roof on your birhouse.

May you have much enjoyment raytracing!

It's an adventure! :)

Hey, bet that is easier than using the sPatch prism model I made! I never knew
there was a triangle object in POVRay (I don't know all the objects it can
do). I'll have to look at that.

Right now I'm having some fun learning how to do some animations (made my own
.ini file) and trying out Chris Colefax's stuff - some really wild stuff
there! :)

Maybe some things I might be able to use in my birdhouse image.

Welcome to the POV world. When starting out, it's not important what you
make, it's putting in the effort to learn all the keywords and techniques.
An image of your belly button is a good image if it teaches you something.

HAHA! I don't think I'd start with that as a subject though. My birdhouse is
challenging enough. And fun. Thing is I haven't had time lately to work on it
more - since been down with flu and also "real life" kicked in. But I got a
few tips here and saved them to notes so I can work on it later and try all
the suggestions.

I also find looking and trying other examples also helps me learn. I want to
still go through the entire POVRay tutorial, though. After that, any
suggestions on what other tutorials to try?

I've put links to 55 online tutorials on the povray.org links page.
Enough to keep you busy for a day or two :)

Thanks, Ken. I'll check them out after I get through the "basics" that come
with POVRay.
