This is another experiment with fog only atmospheres, this scene uses a
handful of fogs to create colour in the sky and the 'mountains fading
into the distance' look. This is another concept that will go into my
fog tutorial (when I find the time to do it).
Please forgive the crappy ocean texture (although it doesn't look half
bad in the distance) and crappy islands.
By the way, although not clearly evident in this scene, I'm also
experimenting with the use of black hole warps to 'naturally' deflect
waves around coastlines, if anyone has done this before, I would
appreciate any help.

Interesting effect, very realistic. You might wanna make the fog
non-isometric (if it is possible - I haven't used fog recentaly so I may
be confusing with medai)

Isometric??? Maybe you have your terms mixed up, but if you mean that I
should make it less uniform, i.e. add turbulence, I have tried but the
effect doesn't look very good. I based this on photographs from National
Geographic, the fog was fairly uniform in those images.

I like it a lot! But I get the felling that if its ,that ,foggy the islands
should cast shadows in the fog. Perhaps media would be better in this image,
though I can't image getting media to look so good.

Nice image.
If it's foggy there it means that there would be large trees on
the islands, encouraged by the damp atmosphere.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers

That would be too much like making a complete scene. I have made it my
goal to never completely finish an image in POV, I'm quite happy just
experimenting with different ideas.

Actually, part of the reason I did this is to avoid using media. Because
I have a crappy computer, most of my work has been focused on trying to
figure out alternatives to using things like media, radiosity, etc.
Still, I see your point, but the effect is not visible on the
photographs that I based this on.
