Just bored. The pencil is from a old pic and the image_map is from PVRay
0.5 beta (boy has it changed).
I threw in a little focal blur , radiosity and reflection blurring just
for fun.

Nicely done - I like the table top especially. I don't know how you've
modeled it, but is it possible to put a coat of paint on it, rather than
having the bare wood? This would be easy if the point is a difference of an
inverse cone. You could make the shaft the paint texture, and the cone a
wood texture.

Is this the pencil in the Pov-Ray objects collection? If not - what source
code are you using?

Thanks Charles. Paint is no problem.I was looking at a pencil I have
that is just bare wood and that's where it came from. The code is mine I
modeled it in Moray 3.1.

Give the wood a normal, and then slap paint on it.

Cheers

PvRay 0.5 beta huh... Ooookay, news to me, I'll have to look that one up. The
pencil is nice but you just about out did it with that desk or table top.
Don't know if it's me or what but the metal eraser part seems out of alignment
somehow. Anyway, boredom pays off once again.

PvRay 0.5 beta was just before Povray 1.0. Most of the scene files
stayed the same until Ver 3 came out.

I see. I found a reference to it in Ray Trace News:

  http://ftp.povray.org/rtn/rtnv4n3.html#art18

Sadly, no "trace" of PvRay though, apparently removed from the ftp site.
Say Ken, if you see this, have you got a link to this Ray Trace News
already? Older stuff but interesting.

I have seen it mirrored in so many places I automaticaly dismiss it
as bookmarkable. The entire archive of past, present, and future is
still maintained actively by Eric Haines anyway.

Hee-hee, just discovered it does exist at your links page as Ray Tracing
News Guide under 3D Magazines.
