This is a pic from the wheel of time series by Robert Jordan.

It depicts a crystal sword that has hung in the heart of the stone for 3000
years, awaiting the dragon reborn.

Comments? Critisism?

Beautiful !!! No kidding !!!

If I had to criticize anything it would be the multiple refections,
or perhaps their size, on the columns. But since I'm not in the
room, to trace their source, it just may be an accurate portrayal.
WHO am I to say in the face of such beauty ?

Well done !
Keep up the good work !
Post more when you get it done !

The replections are from the lamps. There are 24 lamps in the room, each a
lightsource. Most of them are hidden behind the columns or behind the
camera. I'll look into the size of the reflections.

Well this is part of my current irtc entry. This pic will be used as an
imagemap in the final scene.

WOW. Very slick. I like it alot. Especially the bright star looking, lens
flare thing on the sword. (what's that called) Great job!

Have to say this is GREAT !

As a fan of the Jordan, I'd like to see how it looks after Rand's been there...
(The sword half buried in the floor....)

Can only add to the other comments.
It definately has eye-pleasing appeal. I would say something negative
about the floor if I could (about it appearing flattened instead of made
of stones?) but I don't know your intent. It looks to me like a really
cool agate or jade (semi-transparent stone), and perhaps adding
different color, narrow, crevices (they are dark shade of main color
right now) might do more harm than good, don't know.
On the sword, I had to wonder of it's point being at the very upper edge
of this image too. Art is art though, artists perogitive.
Good picture!

What's what called? Yes it's a lens flare on the sword (actually two lens
flares but the second is very subtle) The lens flares are from Chris
Colefax's web site

The scene is actually taken from the book "The dragon Reborn" and the
floor is described as made of grey stones, worn down slightly over the
centuries. The sword is described as hanging hilt down in mid air.

I'll look into neatening up the floor (at the moment it is a height-field
with
an image map for texture (the same picture is used for both))

Thanks for the comments
